I do not worry about being remembered or having significant historical impact. It is more important for me to have a lasting impression on the lives of others as I love my family and friends and love and nurture my children.

I think that is what bothers me the most of my existance. The very thought of perishing without making a lasting impression on some of mankind brings a tear to my eyes. The idea that i will be forgotten with the passing wind, as the years descend my forechildren is sadder then i can bare. I presume the reason i feel this way may be my longing for succession. Or it may be that I have a purpose yet not served and when that oppurtunity arises is when i will live my glory.

This is pretty pessimistic...is it important to be remembered? Life found the time to want you. You were designed to play a part in the bigger picture. Even if it was to only portray a color, etc. every living thing is but one piece - one minute piece of the bigger picture. How selfish and probably full of anger is the one that needs the recognition of his/her works. If you smiled and make someone's day is bigger than you can ever know. GOD forgets no one and nothing because we all are apart of GOD. To ask a question as such let's me know that you left GOD out of this question. What if he left you out instead? How's that for not remembering. If people would stop being so selfish and do things for others graciously, they would realize and recognize immediately that through others they live on. No, your name will not be carried forward in the minds of others, however, your spirit and GOD's will for you to connect with another and uplift them will carry on forever and ever. I'm kind of sad that most people don't understand the simplest thing in life is LOVE and GOD is LOVE! Most have lost this in their hearts. This question is one that reflects a loveless thought. Just think - how much of your life are you able to remember right now and I'll bet that you can't remember most of it. Peace be with you.

What is the obsession with being remembered throughout history?
If you want to be "important," do good deeds, give to charity, donate your time, be a good friend/spouse/sibling/parent and make an impact on those around you.
