I took a pregnancy test about a week ago and the negative showed up along with the control but it had a faint white line going from top to bottom (positive sign). I was wondering if anyone knows what thats all about like maybe it being a defective stick or why a faint white line will pass through the negative and stay there. It wouldn't make sense of me being pregnant since I'm on my second period this month with severe cramping and back pain...heavy bleeding thats lasted 6 days so far which isn't even close to my normal periods. I just donno anymore so please help.

The test was read within 2 minutes and rechecked at about 5 minutes after taking it. it was actually the "equate" off-brand test.

Maybe an evaporation line but those usually show up after the time limit.

That sounds like an evaportaion line. When the lines dont have any normal color, they are called evaps (evaporation lines). They can happen from defective tests, or waiting too long to read the results. It has nothing to do with being pregnant or not being pregnant. Just so you know, FRER (first response easy response) tests are notorious for having evaps.

Good luck.

The best approach to real realize why the white line confirmed up is to name the enterprise who makes the experiment best they may be able to provide you a correct reply on wether the experiment is faulty or no longer, but when you are like me, and you do not wish to leap by way of hoops looking to get an reply, your fine wager is to check out an extra experiment within the morning.

I hate to say it but maybe you are having a miscarriage. Heavy bleeding and severe cramping and back pain are sign of one. I would give your gyn a call and let him/her know what is going on and about the pregnancy tests weird results.
