He saw the couple fighting alot and saw the husband make secret phone calls. He then saw the husband leave 3 times in the middle of the night, in the rain, carrying a suitcase. The next day the wife was gone. The only thing the audience saw that LB didn't was Thorwald and his "wife" leaving the apartment the morning after he left in the rain. LB was asleep when this happened so the audience thought she might have left and LB didn't see it. I have seen this movie a hundred times. It is one of my favorites. Need any other Rear Window questions answered? If so, I'm your girl.

The obvious absence of Mrs. Thorwald and the darkened bedroom with the windows closed in the middle of summer.

The audience doesn't necessarily see anything that Jefferies doesn't but rather that no one other than those staying in the apartment (himself, girlfriend, nurse) believe him.
