I am a solo singer/songwriter who plays acoustic guitar and have been asked to put a set of covers together for a charity fundraiser show in aid of 'Save The Children'. The trouble is I cant think of many songs that would sound good played with just an acoustic guitar for accompaniment. Any suggestions???

There are several classic rock songs that were recorded with accoustics...for example Led Zepplin's 'Stairway to Heaven' and The Eagles 'Hotel California'. I wouldn't blame you if you didn't use these two songs though due to the fact that they are overly cliche.
Just take a look at some of the classic music: Bowie, Zepplin, Dylan, Beatles, Rolling Stones, etc. You'll be able to find a song that sounds great on an accoustic without ever breaking a sweat.
