They arre given money, and it doesn't help the people, the red cross does all it can but the culture just continues moving toward further spread of HIV and AIDS. The don't want Condoms, and Medicen is to expensive. They are on the brink of returning to tribal war, the majority of the population still thinks the loud noise a gun makes is what kills not the bullet, and even the educated classes help perpetuate violence and AIDS through the loop that is being "manly" They don't want european help, because they don't want colonialism...are we supposed to just sit back and watch Africa tear itself apart? They don't accept help, and when they do it is squandered because of buracracy and lack of any real ability to implement what can be done. I want to do something, but what is there to be done?

The problems of an entire continent are so daunting that it is tempting for people to throw up their hands, and say there is nothing to be done. But the fact is that there is a lot that can be done about the problems that your question is addressing, mainly problems of education and health services. And although other countries are of course actively involved in Africa in many ways, whether through military aid, or trade or simply doing business in African countries, the rest of the world is not really contributing all that much to support education or health care in Africa, and a little more would go a long way toward solving these problems. Granted there is a lot of corruption, but it is still possible to send drugs and doctors to Africa, and have them go to help people who need help. It is also possible to provide educational services, whether in their own countries or in other countries.

There has to be a way to distribute resources to teach the people to be self sufficient. Greed and corruption keeps money and supplies from getting to the people who need it most. Educating the people about Aids and TB prevention would be a big help too. Throwing money at Africa won't help in the long term- the people somehow need to be able to become self sufficient.

We should build a wall around it and let nature take it's course. 40 years ago I feel for the feed the Africa babies BS, today those kids had kids who had kids and we need to feed 10-12 million instead of the million we started with.

How considerate. Its such a nice thing to say that you want to help them because so do i. But i dont think there is much we can do if they do not want our help.

Some people do not want to be civilized. Some people do not want help. Leave them to their own devices. Let nature sort things out.

I think we should stay concerned with our own country and keep our nose outta other's business. It's sad that we let our own go down hill just to help others.
