It differs from state to state. Where I am, there is a required title search, pro rated property tax due, termite inspection and repair of any damage found, if it has a well the water must be tested for potability and where I am it must put out a minimum of six gallons per minture, if it has a septic tank or cess pool they must be pumped, there may be prepayment fees for the loan on your house if you do not own it outright as well.

There may be capital gains taxes in play as well, depending on your circumstances.
