Most studies into this report that men have a higher pain threshold. This is somewhat controversial, though, and many of these studies tend to rely on reported perceived pain - and men tend to do the bravado thing, whereas women have the sense to say, "yes, that f8cking hurts, I'm not doing any more of this stupid experiment unless you're dishing out free bacardi."
Then there's the old comeback about a swift kick to the nadgers being something no woman can understand....
Since men cannot experience childbirth, woman cannot experience testicular abuse and both tend to leave the bearer of such pains shrieking like a biatch, it is more likely to be an individual response thing. In my humble opininion.
I happen to have a fairly high pain threshold, but that could be down to being a bit dense....I've always been too dumb to know when I'm beaten, in more ways than one.

Give either ONE of them enough alcohol or drugs and the pain threshold goes up considerably.
Me personally, I have an interesting answer I guess. I think a lot of it is psychological. That's why doctors ask you to "rate your pain". Everyone views pain differently. To some it's a minor inconvenience, to others they're rushing to the hospital when they get a hangnail..both women AND men. Some say their pain is higher so they can get the good drugs, and some have integrity. Some have bravado and others are open wimps. It all comes down to psychology and personality, in my opinion.
Me personally, I am a female to male transsexual. I am also a very light skinned natural redhead, so my skin is supposed to be more sensitive than others. However, I've endured MANY sunburns (and blistering) that doesn't bother me that much. I put some aloe vera on it and go about my buisiness. Being a female to male transsexual, I wanted to comment on the nerve receptor thing. If that is true (and it is) that women have more pain receptors than men, then that would make me more sensitive to pain. However, because I have a male wired brain, I have an extremely high pain tolerance. I've walked on a broken ankle for an 8 hour shift with not so much as even tylenol. I've dislocated my shoulder on a trip to an amusement park and still went on the roller coasters. I had 6 wisdom teeth pulled at once (yes 6, 4 up top, 2 on bottom..the top extra 2 were in my jawbone) and didn't even take the pain meds they gave me. I dont like taking pain meds cuz they make me feel like a zombie. So..like I said, it is all relative to each individual person.
Oh and btw, I"ve done the childbirth thing too.

Neither....a pain threshold depends on the individual person honey. Although men, don't give childbirth, women do go to war in this day and age. However, they also take drugs for that childbirth in this day and age too.
You can't judge this one by a man or women thing. It's a stereotype that has changed drastically over the years. Men have turned into metro-sexuals..getting their manicures and pedicures right along with women, and women have taken up many of the jobs deemed as "tough guy" things. This really comes down to the individual person. I'm afraid you and your aunt are going to have to reach a compromise hon.

i would like to see a guy give birth or even have a slight contraction us girls have a stronger pain threshold
war has nothing to do with men with standing pain, the male of the species in the fighter and the female the home maker
but women can also fight just as well as a man if they have too or even better sometimes

The evolutionary reason why men resist pain better than women is, however, a mystery. After all, pain is there to stop you doing bad things to yourself. Perhaps it is because males and females are exposed to different sorts of pain. Males, for instance, get into fights much more often than females do, and thus get wounded more often. On the other hand, they do not have to undergo the visceral pain of childbirth. And perhaps a willingness to tolerate less pain than men do helps to explain why women live longer than their menfolk.

I dont think of there is any evidence pointing out that adult males have a decrease soreness tolerance then female. female only adventure soreness extra (classes, newborn delivery) and adult males seem to get whiney on the 1st sign of soreness. Thats to no longer say that in case you decrease your finger off you wouldnt take care of it extra useful than a female might. by using own adventure i can assert that i'm a wimp. If i decrease my finger and notice a speck of blood i will very very nearly bypass out, yet i had a newborn without soreness medicine. completely diverse form of soreness. stable success attempting to tutor/disprove your concept.
