It could be caused by one of the updates that Sony has released (and you downloaded), or the PS3 could be overheating a bit. Call Sony's tech support as soon as possible. I'm certain they can help you with this.

Sounds to me like you got a PS3 with bugs in it. Doesn't suprise me. generally speaking almost all of the first generation systems have some pretty bad bugs in them. Good luck. I would contact Sony.

Precisely why it is a good reason to wait for the next phase of release when most bugs are worked out. Xbox360 had the same issue.
