Going just by the first 4 movies, its a close toss up.

Sorcerer's Stone - It was the closest to its book and really caught the spirit of the characters and world of Harry Potter, but (like the first book) the story and character development were straight-forward and not very complicated.

Goblet of Fire - Though the least like its book, it still had more complex (and slightly darker) story, characters, and action-packed scenes that made it more a solid theatrical rendition and more interesting to watch. Plus I kinda liked the darker themed music.

I would have to say Prisoner of Azkaban. First of all, because it has my two favorite characters in it, Remus Lupin and Sirius Black. But also it gives us a nice break from the whole 'Voldemort' scene. I do like how Alfonso Cuaron directed it too, it had a different asthetic to it then the others.

But I do think that the Order of the Pheonix will be one of my favorites when it comes out. It's a fabulous book and I've seen some behind the scene's stuff for it and it looks great.

Goblet of Fire. It went through the first few chapters way too quickly and it changed some from the books, but it didn't leave out any crucial (or fairly important) information like PoA did. No Marauders explanation! Or explaining how Sirius escaped from Azkaban, which confused my friends who hadn't read the books.

Goblet of Fire
Each one is more interesting because I get to see what the screenplay writer decides to focus on, since the books get longer and longer. I think The Order of the Phoenix will be good because all the characters are thrust together for long periods of time.

Hands down, it's Chamber of Secrets. Have you seen the trailer for the latest one? It's freaking hot.

#4 the Goblet of Fire. It stands alone better than the others I think. #3 was awful if you hadn't read an of the books. A movie needs to stand alone as understandable.

Goblet of Fire by far! I watched it 3 times in one weekend! Each movie is better than the last in my opinion, but I still love them all!

So far the fourth, it is fun and exploits every magical affair on trade, it shows so much about those young lifes and the parlor perils involved in being not becoming heroic mages of virtue and sorrow.
