Hey ladies and gents, just looking for some advice. I'm a senior in high school, the gf invited me to her semi formal at a banquet hall. What exactly should I wear to this event? Now everyone tells me to go with the typical dress pants, dress shirt and tie thing, but I was thinking something funky might be a pretty sweet way to go too? Something along the line of jeans, a dress shirt and a suit jacket or something.... make it look hip and w/e. Any ideas ladies?

I would not wear jeans!! That is not formal enough. Sorry, dress pants, shirt and tie are the way to go. If you want to be "funky" maybe choose funky colors for your shirt and tie or something along those lines. :]

No offense, but jeans are way too casual for a semi-formal. No matter how you dress them up with shirt, jacket, and accessories, in the end, you are still wearing jeans. And if her parents will be there, and any other adults, you are definitely going to stand out- as a bum.
You can still get a trendy look with a dress pants and a tie, but a suit is really your best option for a semi-formal. You don't have to buy a traditional cut and fabric to look nice.
For example, skip the wool or twill trousers, and look at linen (if it's warm) or corduroy. Always go with a flat front, it's more flattering, and get a cut that is similar to your jean preference. Dress pants are available in boot cuts, wide legs, etc... the same as denim.
Then finish off your look with the shirt, tie/jacket (you can leave off one, but not both) belt and shoes.

I like that idea, you could put on some dark jeans, because they look a little more dressy and do the button up shirt with a blazer over. I love that style. But you want to make sure that your dressed according to your gf. You could always wear the jacket with some kaki's that will dress it up. GL

cream colored gown pants? gray gown pants? Gross? the place do you get those stuffs? Theyre extra like uniform pants. those are all casual clothing. I dont evaluate blazer semi formal. Nu-uh. The garment isn't superb forthat. anyhow the only stable element is the blue or pink gown shirts. purchase a black gown pants. i think of adult males would desire to continually positioned on black gown pants. Then purchase a tie, it relies upon what gown shirt you're wearing. Then purchase a adventure(theres a distinction between a tux, adventure and blazer) or a vest. Now you're carried out. only make effective the colours mixture.

oka you can wear a blue dark jeans. a shirt and ajacket suit and the shoes should be classic maybe black and for advice girls like hugo boss perfume!!1
