theres boy at my school and my best friend has a crush on him too.he never talks to me but thats only because hes shy.he talks to me and he's reeli funny.i talk to him by e-mail.he looks at me all the time.sometimes he even smiles.im shy too and theres a dance coming up should i ask him or should i wait to see if he asks me? im crazy about this guy and i think that he might like me too.what should i do about my best friend? she likes him too and i liked him first is she a true friend? i really want to dance with him and whats the harm in that. does he like me if he never talks to me but i know he is waiting for me to make the first move.he never teases me and when he looks at me he sometimes smiles. i am friends with his friends. i love him to pieces and i want him to feel the same but does he? Hi. Since you have taken the time to wirte such a detailed question, it seems like you are really confused so I'll try and answer as best as I can.
What I would do is think..who do you like better, your best friend or this guy that you like? If you are absolutely sure that your friend likes him, too then try to get over him. Tell her that we should be friends even if this guy is in the way.
If you're not sure that your friend likes him, then go ahead and go for it. He porbably does like you and I think that guy you're talking about is really sweet because he seems that way.
If he's really shy, then you really have no worries, because he's not going to tell everyone at school if you ask him out. He's way too sweet to do that. Just remember..

Tell your best friend how you feel. Once she understands that you're really crushing on him she shouldn't have a problem with you going out with him.
As for asking him to the dance, first hint around that you would really like to go and that you wish someone would ask you. Then wait to see if he asks you. If he doesn't ask by a couple days before the dance then ask him. Good Luck.

I had this problem as well (only difference is the Boy part, I liked a girl) with my lifelong friend. It was akin to hell.
Trust me, If your friend is a good friend who you would never ditch. Don’t start now. Boys come and go in our culture. Good friends are there for life. Don't betray them,
I would advise you talk to your friend about it. Or if you don’t think that would go over well try and find an alternative (Mine is trying to find a great girl for my friend,)
