I need to get a few end-of-day share prices for some plcs, but am confused by different listings many have under the same or similar name.

The LSE's website has like 5 pages of listings for some companies.. with subsection companies listed off the main company.

Is there a source which gives just the GBP share price for the main companies - or is there any way of telling which is the main company?

Go to www.bbc.co.uk and then go to the Business Section. Look under 'Markets'. Alternatively, look in the Daily Telegraph the following day - all laid out very clearly.

I usually go into Yahoo Finance,.the share prices are always accurate and you can see how the shares have been performing. You can also sell and buy shares as well. Have a look for yourself.

I find that www.FT.com works well for me. You can set up your own portfolio on line, with real or imagined investments, and check it out at any time
