The only thing I can think of is the fact that Superman's name is Kal-El, and his father is Jor-El. Two "El's" seem to be the focus of the entire comic book.

I'm totally guessing/reasoning here with the following thoughts...

As pointed out by an earlier comment, Superman's name was Kal-El. If you notice, both parts of Superman's name ends with 'L'. All these other human characters' names (well not all of them, but you get my point) start with 'L'. You could interpret this as Superman being the opposite of these humans. Superman has super powers while the humans do not. However, while kryptonite weakens Superman it does nothing to the humans. You could view the powers/lack of powers, and the weakness to kryptonite/invincibility to kryptonite as opposites or complements.

The other thing is that as Kal-El's world came to an END, he found a new BEGINNING with the humans after his parents blasted him across space to earth. For humans, at least relative to the amount of time homo sapiens had existed on earth (we have to look at this with respect to a geological or cosmological timeframe), life was just beginning (assuming the people of that society weren't going to self-destruct any time soon).

Alliteration is used in a lot of comic books to make the characters' names sound more dramatic and arresting, for example:

Peter Parker - Spiderman
Reed Richards - Mr Fantastic (from The Fantastic Four)
Bruce Banner - the Hulk
Billy Batson - Capain Marvel
Mike Moran - Marvelman

Not all characters have these initials, only main ones like Lex Luthor, Lionel Luthor, Lois Lane etc.

It's a Marvel tradition apparently. Think: Bruce Banner, Reed Richards, Peter Parker, Sue Storm etc.

because it is just a coincidence or because double initials are a way to force the imagination of the writer.
