Actually I am from San Francisco, but I am bringing my Italian boyfriend there for the first time. I feel overwhelmed with options for a first time visitor. What would you recommend besides the touristy Fisherman's Wharf and Chinatown? Any hip nightclubs, bars or restaurants (I haven't been out in a while though only 32)? I want to show him the best of my city without boring him with tourist attractions. Thanks so much.

I'm going to have to vote for the touristy things. I know when I visit a place for the first time, I want to see and do all the things I've heard about. I bet a trolley ride would be fun too. Then at night you can take him out to the more local places.

I've visited friends and family in other cities, and it's boring sometimes to live their lifestyle. I want to go out and see everything I'd heard about the city as long as I'm there!

The standard tour I'll be doing with my GF and her Swedish niece tomorrow night? They are doing Alcatraz, shopping and the cable cars during the day before I join them around 6:30.

Treasure Island for the city views, Twin Peaks, Golden Gate bridge, Lombard, then a bit of messing around on the really steep streets, Coit Tower, pier 39 then up to Union Square and dinner at the Cheesecake Factory on top of Macy's.

We might have dinner on/near pier 39 instead.

Keep in mind that it is all new to him so what ever you decide will be unique to him.

Try taking a walk across the Golden Gate Brige, Golden Gate Park, the Ferry Building.

I don't think it would be bore for him since he comes to see you for the first time though. No matter where you go, if he goes with you than that's all it matters. He might just wants to stay home with you all the time......, if you know what I mean.... :) :) :) Have fun!
