While we are still in danger of terrorist attacks, we haven't bought into the fear that the U.S. has allowed their government to exploit. My children know that 'Big Bird" is yellow, not a moderate terrorist threat. Sorry, U.S. but you reap what you sow. We , as a country , have learned that we cannot solve all the problems in the world, we take care of our own first, help out in any way we can, second. We are in Afghanistan with you, we were in Croatia, Bosnia, Korea, both World Wars, as well as many other places that needed help. We were there for you after 9-11, we were there after Katrina. Canada has always answered the call and as such have not been seen as aggressors. That is why we are not in as much danger. We know that are more than 1 kind of political system, we like ours, you like yours, the difference is we don't force ours on anybody. You are allowing your current administration to lead by fear, building walls or fences between neighbours is just not the Canadian way. That is why our citizens can travel the world over with little fear of being shot just because of where we are from. Good luck in your crusade but just don't expect to be welcomed with open arms.

What are they going to bomb, the Cn tower? Air Canada centre?(home of the lowly Raptors), West Edmonton mall?, Whistler ski clubs? Iqaluit or Yellowknife?

We Canadians mind our own stuff and don't get as involved in foreign policy as our southern neighbours. Canada would make a poor target if that terrorist wanted to make a definite statement ,though, unfortunetly, Canada does seem to be an ideal hiding spot for terrorists who plan to cause some chaos in the US........

becauase they aren't as influential or as hawkish as the united states or britan. Canada is concerned with internal matters and being a country that provides aid to others but doesn't try to spread influence to others. Canada didn't support the iraq war.

canada has been attacked before. remember the attacks earlier this year? however, the money terrorists raise are better used against the big countries + isreal.

Because Canada does not get involved like the United States does. The United STates is the only nation that will help other nations in need. Canada just sits there and smiles. The United States does something about it.

They aren't near the threat. Terrorists have the US as number one on their hit list because of the governmental progress we've. I think we have the closest system to a Utopian society, despite crime rate -- mainly due to "clash of the cultures" and the manipulation of free rights. Canada is up there too, probably ahead of us, but we also have one of the top militaries in the world. Not to be stereotypical, but terrorists seem to be a blend of jealousy, arrogance, controlling, radical, power-hungry zealots. (Which I guess is, ironically, a good description of the average American.)

Because it is being used as a staging ground at present. There are more than 50 known cells located there, no idea how many unknowns. All intent on making Islam the worlds governing body and the world's religion. As is commanded by Mohammad, in theQua ran.

Canada has suffered terrorist activity and attacks, just not on the scale the U.S. has. I think they will see more in the future :( and eventually have to get serious about it too.

Your question demands a complex answer. There isn't one reason but many. I can suggest a few.

First and foremost, the U.S. has traditionally been a friend to Israel, from the time it took in shiploads of Jews fleeing the Nazi regime, and later supported Israel's founding. America's own heritage is hugely built upon a similar ideology and ethic - Judeo/Christian philosophy. Unfortunately, because of this history, the Muslim world sees the U.S. almost as an extention of the Jews, whom they wish to exterminate according to the tenets of their religion. Islamic militants refer to Israel as the "Little Satan" and the U.S. as the "Great Satan".

Secondly, as U.S.-driven technology has spread across the world, benefitting many lives, it took with it inevitable change and modernization. This meant people the world over lived eventually with electricity, various forms of power generation, motorized vehicles, enormous advances in medical care, and mass communications. (Most of this came from America!) Their lives were easier, and they embraced willingly the technology which made their lives easier. (Note that the U.S. has contributed more than any other western nation to the advance of science and technology - certainly more than Canada.) But eventually they looked around and saw how this technology had also brought a death to many traditional ways of life, and they were resentful - which is human nature. It's interesting, because while they - like many Americans - willingly consume American ideas, fashion, and products, they also long for the ways of the past, before American technology changed things. This fosters a lot of anger. . .

America's traditional military, and growing political and economical influence has also made for resentment. Again, it's a paradox - if America leaves an oppressed country alone, it is resentful that Americans don't offer help. If America helps, they resent it "policing". It's really a no-win for America's reputation, and I think as most historians do that it's just a natural function of being powerful. . . .in other words, it is human nature to hate the one on top, and want to topple them. Even if the one on top has in fact given you a lot of good things.

Being a world economic and technological power, naturally requires a country to be involved in other countries' affairs. America could not function in isolation - neither economically nor security-wise. Canada is not an economic/technological power in the sense the U.S. is. It can - conveniently - exist quietly, minding it's own business. The U.S. doesn't have that luxury - largely because other countries have repeatedly called upon it for monetary, diplomatic, and military help - which it repeatedly gives. America gives this not because it wants to "meddle" or "police" (that thinking is supremely ignorant and shows a lack of education), but because its economical health, its safey and security (as well as that of much of the world), and it's commitment to the ethic of assisting those in need to be free, all contribute to its willingness to get involved.

Canada is a beautiful, wonderful country with a rich heritage, and a kind people. But in recent decades, a wave of extreme leftist thinking has led it to isolate itself to a great degree from world affairs that might prove uncomfortable. It has the luxury to do this because it does not have the history of economical, scientific, ideological, and military influence that the U.S. does. And unfortunately, Canadians who don't have the savvy to understand these dynamics have taken it as an opportunity to criticize their long-time loyal friend to the south. :(

I wonder who Canadians think they will first call upon to help them, when terrorism comes en masse to their shores one day. . . . their neighbor to the south whom they have been bad-mouthing now for years?

Canada is not as interested in foreign policy as the US is

Because they don't have military bases around the world. They only mind their own business. Instead the US is in every countries business.
