This is going to sound absolutely ridiculous, but I think that I would go to the cemetery.
Everybody else (the zombies) are coming out of the cemetery, so they would have no reason to come back into it. As for food, well, I'd probably be done, as there wouldn't be any. I would take as many of my Family and Friends as I possibly could.
ADDITION: How about this idea? If you could possibly get "made-up" to look like a zombie, then you could basically "walk among them" without any trouble. You would have an unlimited source of food, because a "real" zombie only eats brains and flesh, so the grocery stores would all be stocked with plenty of food.
Have a lovely rest of the day.

Ok, you mean if some of the zombies can still run, and if some are decomposing and only able to walk. Near my house (which has an attic with a pull-up ladder) are several older brick buildings from the early 1900's with heavy steel security doors at all entrances, and at the bottom, top, and landings of all stairwells. Two of these are old schools, and the windows are heavy steel frames with security wire netting inside the glass. These buildings also have their own kitchens, first-aid rooms, metal shop, sewing rooms, and even a jacuzzi. Assuming that water, electric, and gas service is uninterrupted (and there is really no reason to assume they would be) these buildings can hold 200-300 people and can be easily barricaded and defended. If for some reason the ground floor would be compromised, the second floor can be just as easily held by locking the steel fire doors. Emergency exits can be made by going out any second floor window and using a rope ladder made down in the shop to reach the ground. Weapons and armor can also be made in the metal shop. Under no circumstances would I go anywhere near a cemetery. We call them "spawning fields". Modern grocery stores usually have too many large windows made of weak glass to be defended, and are too open inside with too many places for zombies to blindside you. Good for a supply trip, but bad to set up camp in. Islands provide a false sense of security, as zombies cannot drown and can simply walk to the island on the riverbottom, or float over as most decaying zombies are partially filled with gases. Fenced-in areas are also bad, as even a zombie can struggle over them, or, en masse, tear them down. Once a section goes down it would be too difficult to repair effectively while keeping the hordes of undead away.

I would go to a hardware store and then proceed to the nearest National Guard Armory. I could arm myself well form a defensive position as most armories are fenced. I would make a devensive stand and plot my next course. I think waterways would work well so perhaps hold up on a large lake, river, or bay to try and wait things out.
If the armory is not possible then I would try a police station or gun store. An armored car would come in handy! lol

Well if you want to go somewhere to find lots of zombies look no farther than any Barbara Streisand concert you will find a fair share of walkers there. If you want to know the best place to hole up anywhere remote in the countryside or an island Preferably a large island in a fresh water lake that has wild life vegetation and enough room to allow your little utopia to develop into a society.

Heck no I'm not tellin' you. I think it's cheap that you'd rely on other people for your story line! Shame! You should be creative enough to think this up on your own. Buy a book and read it Zombie Survival Gude. Whatever. Sign me -
