If your talking about Phelps church, its actually called Westborough Baptist Church. For this answer, thats what I'm assuming your talking about, cause I've never heard Wayland.
Anyway, they are both equally dangerous to America because they are glad that our soldiers are dying, simply so they can raise their noses in the air and spout an "I told you so"
I'm a fiscal conservative Republican. I dont care about many social issues whatsoever, let them go to referendum, let the people decide. But when it comes to these people who despise and hate our country, well, they have no rights in my mind.

ACLU is a non profitable organization. Thank god, if I ended up having to pay for it, I would snap. I truely have nothing against ACLU, they help people in exercising their rights. They do at times piss me off on some of the things they do, but there are some good that comes from them. But as long as they are a non profit private organization, I'm cool.
Westboro Baptist Church, I f u c king hate them with a passion. But in order to have a liberated society, you have to tolerate even the worst of thoughts, even if they are a bunch of morons. I think this is where Libertarians get a bad rep, because we might not like your views but we will defend your rights of Freedom of Speech. But the thing I love the most is the Freedom of Speech goes for everyone. During a while I noticed that the Westboro (Fred's hypnotized idiots. Basically his family, I'm sure incest is involved.) Protested at a fallen soldiers funeral, but hundreds of bikers rode in front of them with American flags, and blocked them from hurting the families who was at the funeral. I thought that was great. They were able to stop those psychos from causing more heart ache to the famly members of the fallin soldier, and they didn't need the govt to help them.

Well, the Westboro Baptist Church prays for god to destroy America (apparently because of America's commitment to freedom and human rights for all citizens) and protest funerals, including those of fallen U.S. soldiers, waving hate-filled placards and rejoicing over the death.
The ACLU is a non-profit organization whose goal is to protect the rights guaranteed by the Bill of Rights.
Hmmm. Gee. Which one is morally repugnant? That's a real hard question to answer.
Liberal Democrat and a card-carrying member of the ACLU.

"Westboro Baptist Church is a U.S. religious organization headed by Fred Phelps and based in Topeka, Kansas. It runs the website GodHatesFags.com[1], and GodHatesAmerica.com, and other websites expressing condemnation of homosexuals, Roman Catholics, Muslims and other groups. The organization is monitored by the Anti-Defamation League,[2] and classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.[3][4] The group has achieved national notoriety in recent years due to their picketing of funeral processions for soldiers killed in combat, which functions as an extension of the Phelps' anti-United States beliefs.
While its members identify themselves as Baptists, the church is an independent Baptist church not affiliated with any known Baptist conventions or associations. The church describes itself as following Primitive Baptist and Calvinist principles, though it has been accused by others of Hyper-Calvinism.[5]
The church bases its work around the belief expressed by its best known slogan and the address of its primary website, "God hates fags", and expresses the opinion, based on its Biblical exegesis, that nearly every tragedy in the world is linked to homosexuality – specifically society's increasing tolerance and acceptance of gay, lesbian, and bisexual people. It believes God hates homosexuals above all other kinds of "sinners"[6] and that homosexuality should be criminalized, punishable by the death penalty.[7]
Not only is Westboro opposed by supporters of gay rights, but many other Christian groups (including those who believe that homosexuality is a sin) oppose Westboro's theology and practice. Southern Baptist Convention president Bobby Welch, for example, has publicly described Westboro Baptist activities as "hate-filled" and stated that the Southern Baptist Convention is not affiliated with Westboro Baptist. Don't know about Wayland Baptist Church, but I do know that the Westboro Baptist Church isn't very tolerant: http://tinyurl.com/rtm
On the other hand, helping despised minorities get a hearing in court, as the ACLU doesn, is not such a bad thing. It would be nice if there were such an organization, and such a court, in -- for example -- Iraq. Or Saudi Arabia for that matter.

They are both bad. But that church group that protests at Military funerals are a bunch of complete mean and rotten psychos. They are much, much worse.
As for the ACLU... they are like defense attorneys. They find the lowest common denominator and defend it, even when its not the will of even a small percentage of the country.

The ACLU helps that group of radical inflict harm on the families of American Heroes. The Westborough church group is pure hatred, but the ACLU is just pure Evil.
And I am a Republican...so go ahead with the thumbs down, you NAMBLA lovers.
Oh and for those who will spew all of the "ACLU preserves freedom" crap...May I remind you that their founder was a confirmed, self admitted Communist. Read, learn, and wake up.
And to all that don't know...The westborough Church, if you can call them a church, are the ones who show up at soldiers funerals saying "thank God for dead soldiers", and threatened to protest the Amish murder victims funerals with signs that read "your daughter is burning in hell".
You libs yell at us for hating the ACLU and this church group, but they are protesting because of American defending the rights of gays. Since you don't wat us to beat them, then you support them. And since they are anit-gay, perhaps you have once again shown your true colors.

Republican turning independent and they both suck, but it just doesn't get any worse than ACLU (which needs to be closed down by the authorities).
