i just recently asked my former manager who works in a clothing store if she could write me a letter of recommendation because im applying to schools such as fit , fidm. im majoring in fashion design. she doesnt know what to say in the letter and i wanted to know what are some things she could she say about me in the letter . she wants to also sound proffessonial. also is there a particular way to write a recomandation letter, the format. if so what is it

The letter should briefly describe how she knows you and what her relationship is to you. She should briefly describe your duties in your position. She should touch on how you performed them. She should mention something about what she sees as your potential in terms of career. She should describe what your outstanding traits are and why she believe you would be a great candidate for the specific school program you are applying to.

Finally, she should state at the end of the letter that they should feel free to contact her with any questions and then leave an email address or phone number. This sounds like a lot, but it should not go over 3/4 of a page. It should be typed and signed to be professional.

recomendations from a manager is probably better than a parent or something, after all, a manager knows your work ethic and how focused you are on your dream... in response to how it should be written, she just needs to write about you, what she knows of you, and probably how she regards you as a worker
