I want to become an electrician. Is there a good book or online course that starts with the basic math and electrical information I would need?

get a job as an apprentice, if you can pick things up quickly they will probably send and pay for your schooling while you work for them. it takes about 4 years to become a journeyman. a couple more to become a master. good luck.

Are you sure? It is going to take you four years and a lot more studying than if you went to College and took something like Accounting and pay will not be as good.
BUT!
If you are bound a determined to become an electrician you will need to first decide on what type of electrician you want to be. There are two main types of electricians. 1. Construction Electricians: 2. maintenance electricians. 3. A related field: Instrumentation Technician:
Construction electrician:
If you want to become a construction electrician find out where the nearest IBEW local is and go talk to them about their apprentice school. If no openings: go to your local community college or Voc.Tech and see what courses they have. Next so larger construction companies have their own apprenticeship schools.
Maintenance electrician:
Forget it: The way things are now days in plants you are better off going on to college and getting your degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering technology, because the pay is not there for the amount of education you have to have to be a maintenance electrician in most plants now days.In most plants now days you are going to have to be muli-crafted. You are going to have to be a mechanic: and three wire (construction) construction electrician: know computers to be able to troublshoot PLC (computer) controll systems. Be able to troubleshoot and repair process control systems (instrumentation Technician): Be able to troubleshoot down to component levels on printed circuit boards. plus know hydruilics and pneumatics.
BUT IF YOU ARE BOUND AND DETERMINED TO BECOME A MAINTENANCE ELECTRICIAN:
You can start by going to your local community college and taking their Industrial electronics course, or their electro mechnical course and get you AAS degree.
You can also get started if you are lucky: by finding companies that have apprenticeship schools getting enrolled in one of them.

THERE IS ACTUALLY NO GOOD ON LINE TYPE SCHOOLS FOR BECOMING AN ELECTRICIAN BECAUSE YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO HAVE THE LAB; OR HANDS ON EXPERIENCE TO GO WITH THE THEORY: OHTERWISE YOU WILL BE CARRIED OUT OF THE PLANT OR OFF THE JOB FEET FIRST IN A BODY BAG!
