LASIK is safe and painless as well. The most discomfort you will feel is like having an eyelash in the eye or minor tearing and burning like when cutting onions.
The difference between Wavefront and Traditional LASIK is..Traditional LASIK corrects the lower order aberrations in the eye while the Wavefront corrects the low order and high order aberrations. Wavefront LASIK is more custom to the eyes (sometimes it's also referred to as Custom Cornea or Personal LASIK, extra measurements are taken which scan your eyes and know how to correct the flaws in your eye, while Traditional is a standard correction, no personal touch for each person's eyes). With LASIK surgery, you do have a chance for halos, glaring and starbursts at night - with traditional, you have a 4% chance of that, with wavefront, it's reduced to 1%.
There is a procedure that doesn't require the surgeon to cut the cornea. It's called PRK (Photo Refractive Keratectomy). With that procedure, no flap is cut and the laser treatment is done on the surface of the cornea. The recovery time is longer and you endure much more pain. Vision takes longer to clear up as well. About the first 3 days you will experience pain and discomfort and your vision will be cloudy/hazy. The surgeon will also place bandage contact lenses in the eyes (clear contact lenses that help ease the pain) and you will keep them in (you don't need to take them out and clean them) until your 3 day or 5 day check up depending on which laser treatment you go with (3 for traditional, 5 for wavefront).
LASIK recovery is pretty quick. Most patients see well hours after surgery and even better the next day. With PRK it may take a few days to weeks.

Lasik is a safe procedure with an experienced surgeon. Wavefront lasik is a fancy kind of lasik to help reduce distortions in your vision and usually costs a few hundred dollars more. Lasik is not painful. There is a surgery called PRK that does not require cutting of the eye, but instead is done only with a laser, but it is painful and takes a few more days for your vision to clear up.

Lasik is AMAZING! I got it done in May and I honestly love it! It is def. worth the money. I got the normal lasik procedure im not too sure what wavefront is. However, it could be the new no-cut lasik.
My Lasik experience was great. from the time of the procedure til it healed. Lasik is not painful at all. trust me. After the procedure, it feels like something's in your eye like with contacts...You know when they get dry or something gets in it? That's basically what it will feel like. but no pain at all. The next day you will be able to see everything so clear you wont even believe it!

Lasik is relatively painless. It is a cold laser. Wavefront is a newer and more accurate technology.

I had general lasik. It does not hurt and I believe it to be quite safe.
