Every year I take my children down to donate a toy for the Toys For Tots program. We want our kids to know that Christmas is about giving and reaching into your heart!
My husband's Command ( WE are a Military family stationed in Italy) also sponsors an Italian orphanage, and we all buy toys and clothes for these wonderful children. We also invite them to our Command Christmas party for our children, and it's so great seeing the excitement on these kids face!

I'll probably be doing both, and I also drop cash into Salvation Army bellringer buckets when I pass by. My family probably puts out about $100.00 each year towards various charities and gifts for needy children.

Before I married my current husband, I couldn't afford Christmas for my first son. Our first Christmas together was a pretty depressing affair, and my ex-husband went to one of those donation sites to pick up a toy. I realized how important it was -- my son really liked that stuffed animal -- and when I finally was out of abject poverty, I swore to do it each year.

So, my family has. My husband, personally, had miserable holidays, so he does it because he wants at least one kid (we tend to donate a few toys at a time into the Toys for Tots bin) to not suffer what he did at the holidays.

I have bought countless toys so far as well as buying the tags too. I cannot fathom anyone being sad on Christmas, so if I can make it a bit better for someone, I am more than happy to.

Yes we do the angel tree. I get a boy and a girl and me and the kids shop for them. We have since the kids were 3 years old. I let them pick out the gifts of a child around their age. It's fun.
