Actually, in undergrad, I found the smartest thing was to ask the TA or professor to give you some feedback. Couch it as you're trying to turn in the best paper possible and you wanna make sure you're on the right track.

I had one class where the TA graded the papers. Since I had him look over it, I incorporated all the feedback he gave me. He even rewrote a paragraph. When I got my paper back, of course I got an A. He even highlighted the paragraph he wrote saying, "beautifully written paragraph". Well, duh. He wrote the thing.

You can also check into the English department to see if they have a program where tutors will help go over your paper. My undergrad had something like that, but I found going to the TA or Prof of the actual class worked better since everyone writes differently and is looking for different things.
