there is no such thing as Holy War? Isn't that an oxymoron?

I do not dispute the fact that people say it is a war being fought in the name of religion. My point is, religion seems to me to simply be a pretty package that is used to hide the true agenda.

To me you are right "HOLY WAR" the only one I would consider holy is the coming fight between God ,Jesus and the Angels with Satan and his followers. So in those terms those that call all this a holy war must be fighting a war with god beside satan

It isn't really a oxymoron as holiness and war are not really the same. However, I agree that the concept of a holy war is silly. There is rarely a spiritual revival following a war. I think it is just a justification for acts which would not be consistent with a thoughtful or reasonable person.

Yes it is an oxymoron and the reason why is it is called Holy War is because they do it the name of God, which makes it seem that their intentions are holy, when they're really not.

Hardly. A war in God's name is, in description, a Holy War.

Saying that war isn't holy is one thing but denying that people warred in God's name is denying the facts.

it is....only that every war ever fought was under the false idea that god was with their cause.and that if you(us) do not think the way you(us) do;you are considered to be the enemy or against the cause....so i say it is a holy war(it all depends on who you ask)during the war.and besides, god would never condone to kill a human being in order to make a point in the world..god is love, not hate.....
