YES,
There are many reasons. The thing is most people think that Chelsea have the money to afford big players and they become an asset to the team and the team wins easily. This did not suit well with the fans of the other clubs who couldn't bear to see a club which used to be moderate rise up coz of all the expensive players they have. There also began a new generation of followers of chelsea who probably know nothing about the history of the club but simply wants to support it coz naturally everyone wants to support the winning team. All this added to the negative publicity of the team.
But the think is they have to understand there are many loyal supporters of Chelsea ever since they were born(like me and my friends) and we have been with the club thru thick and thin.
GO CHELSEA!

If you read MJ answer with a clear head and get past the insults, he makes some sense... Basically what he means is that the BIG clubs got there via winning. Chelsea and City have been taken over by Billionaires which has brought some success for Chelsea and most likely to City who otherwise both would still be struggling. They didn't earn the right historically to compare themselves to the BIG clubs of Europe... That's all FACT. Now my counter-argument to his point would be that without money in today's game, you are not going to win. So it would be hard for any team to ever get to those levels unless they get paid... As for me, I don't worry about Barcelona being taken over by Billionaires as Barcelona is Catalunya... There's no individual owner and our history will always allow us to attract the best players...

I think so. Coupled with the fact that people hate them because they have money because of Mr. Roman and buy stars to form a winning team, they have a boatload of fans who have joined in their euphoria of recent success. Die hard fans of other clubs and Chelsea rivals [which apparently have become 90% of the European footballing world] totally detest that and show them no respect whatsoever.
