They ran on getting out and now the plan is to send MORE troops to Iraq?

Because they never have had a plan. Its not about winning the war, fixing any problems, helping this country.... Its about getting themselves elected so that they can stroke their egos and spew forth their views with no real fix to anything.
Ted Kennedy is the prime example. He has spent many a drunken year in public office. What has he done? Other than sling mud that is.

Democrats don't have all the answers either. You'll get both positions from people in both major parties, "Start pulling out the troops" or "Send more troops".
My personal belief is that more American troops in Iraq will mean more American troops killed, just because more will be exposed, and because so many of them are young and not well enough trained. Marine sniper Carlos Hathcock, with 93 confirmed kills in Korea and Vietnam, and another 250 or so "probables", got by without injury until an inexperienced truck driver drove him down a trail that "looked bad" to Hathcock, and against his warning. The trail was booby trapped.

Their lives are based on lies. They say things to make people vote for them, then when it comes the time, they just do whatever they want or find out they were wrong. This is not surprising to me. They say fake things to make people like them, kind of like a poser.
