If you're asking this question, you must not be from the South in the United States. Everywhere around me I see gender inequality in the work place. Quite simply, men simply STILL get paid more than women for the same job/experience and more often than no, men will get promotions for jobs that women may be more qualified for.

Additionally, I work at a staffing agency and every day companies call requesting men and will flat out say "Don't send me women." So yes, gender equality is relevant because it still doesn't exist.

here are three examples of how gender inequality are very relevant in present society
The wage gap is slowly decreasing but women are still making about 76.5 cents for every dollar a man makes {1}
women professionals and managers continue to trail white men and women in compensation and promotions, {2}
Gender inequality remains major obstacle to development, more women than men live in poverty, says new United Nations report.{3}

Depends on what you mean by equality. Equality of opportunity is obviously a good thing. There should be very few professions closed to women, and men and women of equal qualifications / experience should be paid the same. But I don't want women dressing and acting like men, or fighting on the front lines in combat, or sharing a locker room or bathroom with me, etc.

sure, progress towards equality is still an issue.
just read all the questions about
"my ex won't let me see the kids, it's unfair to dads"
or
"my ex took the kids and i have to pay child support, it's unfair, shouldn't i get the kids since i'm the mom"
and other such issues.
gender equality issues are all over YA
they are very relevant.
"why is it ok for guys to cheat but girls are looked down on if they cheat"
etc etc.
differing social standards.
you can't get a waitress job at hooters if you're a guy.

Gender eauality is an invalid concept.

Males and females are biologically different and that difference must be incorporated in the society for the benefit of humans.

Males and females need their separate social spaces.

Heterosexualisation of social spaces is an oppressive thing --- earlier both for men and women......but now it is rather friendly to women (in the name of gender equality) but very oppressive of men. It denies any privacy to men and is insensitive to their needs.

Men and women are not the same.

Sure women can be masculine and may want to do men's work. But not all women want to do that. And those who do want to do masculine stuff still should have their own space. They must not be allowed to invade men's spaces.

It's the same with feminine gendered males. They may want to do the girl stuff. But they need their separate space for that.
