The problem with getting a true answer to that question is that shedloads of psychological research demonstrates that people whom others would (almost certainly accurately) judge to be close-minded don't actually recognise that characteristic in themselves. If you want a posh word, many close-minded people are 'anti-intraceptive' - that is, they distrust and are afraid of looking inside themselves, seeking for psychological explanations for psychological phenomena, etc. You have only to look at the huge population of politicians who lay claim to being open-minded and accepting of new ideas when in fact their behaviour shows them to be anything but that.

I would say I'm pretty open-minded. I have my own religious beliefs and I have my own views on things outside of religion, but I definately will listen to other views and consider them. I never try to pursuade someone else to look at things the way I do. And I certainly don't get upset if someone does not see things the way I do. I think there is a lot to learn in this world. Being close-minded hurts no one but yourself because you don't know everything. Someone may have something to say that you can actually learn somethign from.

No one is open minded. It is a myth.
Suppose you belong to an ethnic minority, and it just so happens that a community that you belong practice incest, and it is likely that you are a direct product of incest - Now if this issue was brought out on National Television for debate, would you accept to discuss it together with your parents.
Of course this is only a supposition. It just goes to prove that we all have a threshold of hypocrisy as far as claiming to be open minded.

I would classify myself as an insulated open-minded person. That is because as much as I'm open-minded.... I do realise that there are alot of garbage trying to pass off as wisdom .. out there!
So I insulate myself from negetive and immoral ideas... but I'm still willing to hear a person out and find out why they choose to behave in a certain way.

I'm open minded. I don't like the fact that the world is full of judgemental people. That's the reason for a lot of the problems we face in this world. OOPS, was I passing judgement?
