my retarded boyfriend bought a dirt devil featherlite vacuum, but i don't think he realized he purchased a remanufactured one. It wored fine for a hot second, until the belt broke. and i have replaced that belt like 5 times, and then i noticed the thing i put the belt on was really hot and as soon as i turned the vacuum on it broke and it was smoking! What the hell could it be? I'vve spent like 20 bucks on belts and if i buy anymore it would be the price of the vaccum, any ideas of what it could be?

It sucks because he just bought the damn thing and I think it was like 40 bucks wasted! That is why I just ask him for the money and I buy it myself.....

Is the belt moving when you turn the vacuum on? I had this problem, after taking a hour to put a new belt on, I put it on wrong and it wasn't turning when I hit the power button causing it to melt. Make sure you get the right size belt.

The rotating brush is jamed with somthing...usuall hair or carpe string. Untangle the brush. If this does not work take the vac back

Sounds like the motor is overheating..for what it would cost to take it in to get it fixed you might as well get a new one
