Honestly, if that was the only prerequisit to play in the title game, then good teams would only schedule cupcake games out of conference....then good teams from good conferences would never make the game cuz its tough to go undefeated in the SEC, Big 10, Pac10, Big East and ACC. Only 1 team from those conferences went undefeated (ohio st.) If you are the cream of the crop in a crappy mid major, then you should be scheduling teams to play from power conferences....who did Boise St. play out of conference? Exactly, teams weaker than in their own conference..besides Oregon St at home! If you want to compete with the big boys, you have to play them in the regular season, and not duck them till its time for a BCS game.

Right on brother!!

Grand Valley St is undefeated in Div II, maybe they "deserve" a shot at the BCS National Championship also.

You gotta play big teams to get to the big game. Beating a schedule full of unranked teams proves nothing.

I agree with most of what you said but in terms of ducking it might not be the case. Teams like Michigan, Florida etc don't want to schedule a Boise St. non-conference since it puts them in a no win situation. If you win the game big it looks like your just beating up on a mid-major. If you win a close one its going to hurt your rankings. If you lose the game you will not make it to the BCS yourself. All the good mid-major teams and even teams like Louisville have this problem. I heard during the Louisville - Rutgers game that Louisville has been trying to schedule SEC teams for the last few years but no one will play them except Kentucky. Then you hear the fans of the SEC teams saying Louisville would not be deserving of the BCS championship if they had won out.

First, homie you need to check your schedule again. Ohio St. didn't play Wisconsin.
Ohio St. had a very weak schedule. They played Texas early in the year against a then new quarterback. I think it would have been a better game and a different outcome had they played later in the season. The only other quality win came against Michigan St. who is also overrated due to a weak schedule. Wisconsin, however is the most overrated team. Not even one good win.
The reason why teams like Boise St. are not playing the "big" schools is mainly because the "big" schools don't want to. They don't have anything to gain from those games against the best mid major teams. They can only get embarassed by losing. That's why Boise St. only plays cupcakes!!!

I don't know who honestly thinks BSU should play Ohio St, but they need their head checked. I attend BSU, I am an avid fan and would be scared to death to see them play the #1 ranked team in the nation. When BSU pays the Sooners in the Fiesta Bowl, it should be a good, tough and competitive game.

Before you dog on BSU, think about this though: how else are teams supposed to move up in conferences? They have to prove themselves worthy at a shot at playing in a big game. It's a lot of work, and if our program can hold together, maybe people will feel BSU deserves a bit more respect.

Just be sure to watch the game on Jan. 1, we'll see how it plays out. . .

Big East is worthy of a national title if a team goes undefeated, if you dont think so then you know nothing about college football (im talking to people in general). Just about every team in the big east could compete with any other conference in the nation. If anything the ACC should be the conference that is getting all the crap, look at what they did this season. I dont think the WAC is worthy of a national title game though, I agree.

The reason you have the BCS in the first place is because Brigham Young won the national title by going undefeated and played only one ranked team in the top 25. It was their bowl game against Michigan who I believe was ranked 21 with a 7-4 record. However, I still have serious questions about the integrity of the BCS. Look how they ranked West Virginia. With two games to play West Virginia was ranked seventh and had lost to the only ranked team they had played thus far. Makes no sense.

If people believed that then Boise State and OSU would be playing each other. I don't think a big east school deserves a shot either if one of them ever goes undefeated, unless the conference gets stronger and that isn't going to happen. There are too many good facilities everywhere else.

I think that most folks honestly know that some teams do not deserve to play in a championship game due to their schedule. If there were a playoff system in place instead of all of this BCS nonsense, then we wouldn't have any questions about who'd be number one.

Looking at Ohio States schedule leads me to believe that they aren't as good as pundits say they are. The toughest team they played was Texas. Florida has played LSU,Florida ST,Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, and Auburn. All very tough teams.

GO GATORS!!!!!!
