he has been on rice cereal for 2 months now, but just started veggies last week. Since starting veggies, he has been up all night with terrible gas. I know that their little systems take some time to adjust to the food, but he's only getting about 2-4 hours of sleep a night. Also, he has been spitting the veggies up. Is this normal? He doesn't seem like he's not feeling well. He's a very happy baby during the day. What can I do to ease his tummy? I have tried Mylicon. I have called the doctor, but my case is apparently not a priority so it can take up to 2 days to get back to me.

Try things like bananas, pears, butternut squash, and sweet potatoes... they're easier on the stomach. Try to mix them first with the rice, and then by themselves. If he's still gassy, try Little Tummies gas drops... they work like a charm.

What you could also do is change his feeding schedule. Feed him a couple of hours earlier that way he won't be up all night with gas.

My little ones had the same issue when I started them on veggies There is no easy answer, but every child develops at a different rate. It may be that his digestive system is not ready for the veggies you have tried, some are harder than others. It took a good month before my girls were able to stomach anything other than squash. My suggestion would be to find what is easiest on his stomach and just stick with that. Also you could try waiting a few weeks and coming back to the veggies.

What I would do is give your baby part babyrice mixed with veggies not just pure veg on its own as it is perhaps to strong for his system at the moment. If you are already doing this then put more rice than veg in it. I would also give him this mix at lunchtim and then just baby rice at teatime. That way if he is going to get gas it shouldn't be in the night. Also, you could try adding potpato to the veggies to weaken their strength. Hope this helps.

If it is a dark veggie that would explain it. Try a lighter colored veggie. Or maybe it could be the other way around. and / or maybe wait a little while longer before you try again. My daughter was a picky baby.

depends on what veggies you are feeding him... if brocolli...stop...they arent to have that until after 1 yr. i give my son sweet peas, squash, green beans, carrots (he's now 9 mnths) i started him on all these when he was 4 mnths. he also eats a variety of fruits. A good way that i swear by for gas relief....its called burgoons cordial. you can buy it at The Pharm it costs about 5 dollars a bottle. it says not to use on infants.....but my fiance's mom used it on all 4 of her children....all you do is dip their pacifier in it and thats enough...they'll love the taste....very sweet taste.

Stop feeding him the veggies. His stomache just isn't ready yet. Many babies respond much better to meats instead of veggies at first.

Have you been feeding him carrots? My daughter had terrible gas with the carrots. If you are, try cutting those out. I had a co-worker who's son had the same issue with carrots.

try gas drops or not giving him so much at a time. Make sure he is still pooping regular as well. That he is not getting constipated.
