Well, in at least some cases, the "community leaders" ARE the insurgents.
Iraq has a 1,400 year history "secterian violence", and only the iron-fisted regime of Saddam kept it somewhat under control by means of terror.
In Iraq, you have three main groups that, in general, hate each other with a passion: the Sunnis, the
Shia (who are the majority) and the Kurds. Ask any member of any group and he/she will be eager to tell you that "the others" are NOT Muslims.
The "insurgency" is NOT going to fade away - in fact, it's not only going to continue, it's going to get even worse. Most of the Middle East has a mind-set very similar to that of Europe in the 17th century:
"The Protestant Reformation also led to a strong reform movement in the Catholic Church called the Counter-Reformation, which aimed to reduce corruption as well as to improve and strengthen Catholic Dogma. An important group in the Catholic Church who emerged from this movement were the Jesuits who helped keep Eastern Europe within the Catholic fold. Still, the Catholic Church was intensely weakened by the Reformation, large parts of Europe were no longer under its sway and kings in the remaining Catholic countries began to take control of the Church institutions within their kingdoms.
Unlike Western Europe, the countries of Central Europe, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and Hungary, were more tolerant. While still enforcing the predominance of Catholicism they continued to allow the large religious minorities to maintain their faiths. Central Europe became divided between Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox and Jews.
Another important development in this period was the growth of pan-European sentiments. Eméric Crucé (1623) came up with the idea of the European Council, intended to end wars in Europe; attempts to create lasting peace were no success, although all European countries (except the Russian and Ottoman Empires, regarded as foreign) agreed to make peace in 1518 at the Treaty of London. Many wars broke out again in a few years. The Reformation also made European peace impossible for many centuries."
So-called "holy wars" are the very worst kind of warfare.

needless to say, its no longer well worth to be a suicide bomber. Im from Indonesia. there became right into a suicide bomber who blew himself up in bali a pair of years in the past. Police confiscated a video that confirmed the suicide bomber. He suggested that he will do the bombing "interior the call of Allah and for all of the Muslims". And wager who have been the final public of the people who died from the bali bombing? Muslims. those terrrorists and suicide bombers are nuts!

do they have a choice , besides before the democratic invasion they didn´t have those kind of problems. Saddam is now gone and soon to be executed but the Iraqi people is in a much worse state now than before , they now have chaos , no law and order , suicide bombers , soldiers from other countries and Arab freedom fighters from outside Iraq to deal with .
so ....do they have a choice ?
