How did the Daleks kill the Time Lords?

On the show I hear references to the Time Lords perishing in the time war. How did it happen?

The daleks did not kill the Time Lords, Dr Who destroyed them both, when he realised the Daleks were winning, hence he is the last of the Time Lords.
