Well my daughter has been drinking Enfamil Gentlease lipil and it is working great for her. But our WIC program here only offers Similac formulas and Similac doesn't have a gentle formula. So, they reccommend I give her Similac lactose free, because the gentlease has low lactose(1/4 of normal milk formula). I am debating If I should try it. I am worried she will have a bad reaction. The enfamil formula is soo expensive. What do you all think??
Would it be better to maybe try the wal mart brand gentle formula??

i would try the brand WIC is providing first... you might be surprised. Dont worry though...you can switch if needed. Also you can ask them about soy formula....ive had my son on that for 6mnths....he had problems with the lactose in regular formula.

talk it over with your doctor too to see what is the best decision.

I buy the Parent's Choice Walmart brand and it's great they have a copy of almost any formula out there. If you check the list of the back that describes the vitamins and minerals in the formula it matches almost exactly what is in enfamil. I don't know much about similac but i do know that Parent's choice is great and a lot cheaper but i would just try whatever WIC covers and see what happens if your baby is a little older now than she was before then she will probably be fine.

I think there is something wrong with your WIC program. The WIC office here asked me what formula I had been giving him (Enfamil Lipil w/ Iron) and how much, and then approved me for 9 cans a month of it. They told me that they have to approve any name brand formula because it is not a good idea to switch. WIC should not be restrictive of your brands. What state are you in?

Just call her pedi and tell them you need a note written to WIC saying she needs enfamil gentlease--they will probably ask if you've tried other formulas, just say yes, they made her gassy or constipated. WIC will then pay for the formula.

You might be considering to slowly mix the good and the average. I have two sons and this happened to me when i have my first son. He was given a branded milk and it's expensive. Slowly, i was advised by my friend to slowly mix them. Firstly, mix branded mlk in higher proportion to the average milk. After weeks or a month, try to see any side effects. If not, try to increase the portion of the average milk compare to the branded one. You can save cost at one time while adjusting them to the brand milk that you are cozy with.

you can have your doctor write that baby has to have this formula and wic will change it for you. Or you can try a different band.

You can get a note from her doctor saying which formula she needs to be on. They have to honor it and will. Give it a try.

Good luck to you.
