Mine did the same thing and eventually came up with the red lights of death. I sent it into Microsoft & you shouldn't have to pay if its only 4 months old. Mine was about six months old and they replaced it. It didn't cost me anything.

I bought my 360 in June, and I have probably put a couple of hundred hours of gameplay on the thing. In that time, I have had about 3 freezes.

I purchased the 3-year replacement warranty at Best Buy when I got the unit. I always think that is money well spent for gaming consols, since they get such heavy use. I used it twice on my original XBOX. The sweet thing is that they give you a store credit for the amount you paid. So on my original XBOX, I paid $299. When it died and I needed a replacement, I got $299 credit. By that time, XBOX was going for $179, so I got a new unit, plus 3 games. I was damn happy.

Yep. But I think it's just because I play for so long and it gets too hot. I turn it off after it freezes for a little bit and get back on and it works fine. No biggie for me, back in Oct. my hard drive completely crapped out on me though and I had to replace it. I'm hoping that my 360 stays in one piece.

Edit- I would advise NOT getting an intercooler. They actually can cause burning and overheating inside your 360.

Mine was the same way..Seems like the earlier versions of the 360 were defective..So i baught a new one and it actually works without freezing. The newer models being built now are more reccomended

Mine froze but I also bought the warranty which is still good so they sent a box for me to stick my xbox in and send back to them. All postage paid. But this was only after I tried this as found on the xbox website support page:

Hmm, it shouldn't freeze, does it have a warranty? I never experienced the freezing problem.

If you bought it when it first came out then they had broblems with it.... that exact one...(freezing)

Check the game for scratches.... check the Xbox for defects
