I am in the market for a new laptop...and I'm deciding between the intel Duo core and the Core 2 Duo processers.
does anyone have any advice?
I use my computer for multi-tasking internet, excel, word...but not any graphics or sound programs.

Thanks,

Alex

i. core 2 duo are 64 bit processors
ii. core 2 duo processors have 2 series t5x00 & t7x00
> the t7x00 has an awesome 4 mb l2 cache
besides, the fsb also may vary
667 mhz for the core 2 duo & also the later duo cores
533 mhz for the earlier duo cores

personally, i'm a big fan of the t7200 processor
2.0 ghz, 667 mhz fsb, 4 mb l2 cache
t7400 & t7600 are faster, but too steeply priced !

but for your application, a duo core should do just fine

A Duo Core should satisfy all of your processing needs wonderfully. A Core 2 Duo would be a bit overkill for basic multi-tasking.

I don't know about you, but I have the need... the need for speed! ;) Get the faster one and you won't have to upgrade again as soon. With the things that are coming, I'm sure the extra speed will help. Just because you don't use graphics or sound at present doesn't mean you won't be using them in the near future.

Either would be O K so then I would make my choice based on price.
