You are right! I say the same thing all the time!
I am gay and strongly believe we deserve the right to marry our partners just as our heterosexual counterparts do. It makes me mad that our government still dares to deny us equality.
What really upsets me most of all though, are those closed minded individuals who don't know the slightest thing about what being gay means or how it feels to not be given the same rights and opportunities just because one is gay!
When you ask one of these closed minded people why they feel that gay marriage should not be legalized, there response is always based on morality... Go figure... I thought that our government was based on a separation of state and church... so morality should not even come into the question if it is a legal issue that we are talking about...
I believe in god and have a personal relationship with him. The life that I lead is not based on other's morality issues. What I do is between god and myself and if I have to answer to someone at some point for my lifestyle, it will be to god. Not some bigot hiding behind morality to get their political agenda across.
Someday soon, I'm sure there will be enough voices calling for equality that our call will no longer be able to be ignored! :)
Thanks for the question! You are absolutely right!!

I know. I could never figure out what the big deal is. I'm straight and married and I think it would be great if gay people could get married. I hate when people say stupid things like "it would affect the sanctity of marriage". With a 50% divorce rate, how much "sanctity" is there? Marriage is a legal institution, not just a religious one. To me not letting same sex couples legally marry is a form of gender discrimination.

You know what? I just passed a question because someone asked if gay marriages should be allowed. I thought to myself, I could really care less either way. Wether they're allowed or not takes nothing away nor adds anything to me so why should it matter? There are bigger problems we need to be addressing than two people that love eachother and want to be legally recognized and joined togther... what is the big deal?

I was wondering the same thing myself. Maybe you should post this in the religious and straight dating sections?
