Will I continue to exist in the form of emails, blogs, saved profiles etc. on the internet once I die? Will they continue to live on forever or will they be deleted at some point in time. A related question: data continues to accumulate on the internet, what is the theoritical limit of this data? How long will it exist? Will it exist for eternity (provided the earth is not destroyed)? Won't that become a major headache for search engines?

I'd think accounts and whatnot would end but there will always be bits and pieces of your thoughts scattered about.

The information you put online (blogs, profiles, webpages) will remain there until they are removed, either by you or someone else. The website company may go out of business, then your information will be removed from their servers. For example, if myspace.com ever goes out of business, your website and profile will be removed.

E-mails will be automatically deleted, as most e-mail servers delete any e-mail addresses that aren't logged into after a set
time period.

The limit to the information on the internet is limited to where it is stored, for example, servers, or any future storage technology.

How many servers can the entire world hold? If you answer that question, you will know what the limit is.

The storage technology continues to improve, such as memory for computers, and memory cards for digital cameras have gotten much, much smaller, so if it continues in that direction, I would imagine the storage capacity for all the worlds information will continue to increase as time goes on.

First your emails and persona will be deleted. Then any websites you created will be transferred into the Wayback Machine for an indeterminate period. Finally, as websites die out or clear their old files, you will slowly fade away completely. The Internet will only last as long as people desire it and technology permits it. That could be anything from 10 years to 10 billion years. But your presence will be long gone.

Hmmm... wow, you've really thought about that one too haven't you? It's made me think about that too now...

I guess it will live on longer than you, but after you haven't logged on to your accounts in a certain amount of time (Most have time limits) it will die too.
