Yes. I believe that the Administration was somewhat elated by the stunning success in Afghanistan and thought they were on the crest of a wave of change in the Middle East on which they would ride easily through Iraq and Iran. The Neo-Conservative movement in the Administration ignored any voices of caution and shunned those who have a good understanding of how you have to proceed in the Middle East. So when they encountered resistance in Iraq, they were unprepared for it. Rather than looking for alternate voices after that, they chose to "stay the course" and turn our military into a police force for Iraq's government.

Is it not okay for a group of people to protect their interests? Sure we have made mistakes by promoting different groups but go back to that time. would one of the conspirators thought well if we help them gain power now to help us they might turn on us and declair war against us so we shouldnt. You know the saying Hindsights 20/20. but the fact is every civ has to take steps for survival. NOT ONE CIV has just rolled over when tough times and dangerous times that threatend their survival has reared its head. they fight. You dont see the problem but its there you just have to take your marshmellow glasses off.
