Me and my husband have been using it for about 3 weeks. Just wondering if anyone has used it and ever gotten pregnant. Or used it for a long period of time and works great.

I know I put this under trying to conceive wasn't sure what to put it under. Should be under trying not to conceive. :)

I am not asking for opinions on me using birth control Marty, but thanks. And also the pill, shot, and nuva ring have also made me moody from the homones. My doctor told me about the VCF to try b/c it doesn't mess with hormones. Just not sure if I am ready for another child wondering the statistics.

The VCF is a type of spermicide. I am not a user, but here's what I found about risks associated with spermicides:

Frequently, couples will use a spermicide in conjunction with their barrier method. A spermicide is an agent that is designed to kill the male’s sperm and is often sold as a gel or as an ingredient in the vaginal sponge. Toxic Shock Syndrome has been associated with the spermicide sponge. One researcher has noted that couples who have used certain spermicides within a month of conception have experienced a doubling in the rate of birth defects as well as a doubling of the rate of miscarriage.

Also, here is an excerpt from a transcript of a speech by Dr. Janet Smith:

"I've got to get a good spermicide. "Spermicide" means "kill the sperm." I want to make love to you, but I'm going to kill any sperm that come my way. There's something hostile in that act, but I claim it's hostile primarily to a female's fertility because, you know, it's the males who can have sex and not get pregnant. So what the Pill does and contraceptives do is make a female like a creature that can have sex and not get pregnant. But, that's not what we are. And it's not a great burden and a great defect to be a person who can have sex and get pregnant. That happens to be a great gift. But, we treat it as though it were a great deficit-something that needs medication, devices, etc."

I'm not trying to lecture you...I'm just providing more information about your choices. My husband and I use NFP and we have avoided pregnancy for as long as we wanted and then concieved the first time we tried. There are no unnatural agents introduced into our bodies, and we have to work together in order to be sucessful. We are really happy with this method. www.onemoresoul.com has more info abou NFP and it can help locate a local instructor--you can take a class without having to promise to practice it or anything. Plus, a big bonus for me has been how much more in touch with my body I am and how aware I am of what's going on with it.

Hope that helps! God bless!

I used VCF and never got pg. I didn't particularly like it though and would prefer a simpler method like nuva ring or even fertility awareness.

I have used it as well as the foam with the film or condoms and still got pregnant with my third child. But it works different for every one.

I actually bought the film but haven't used it yet...I'm guessing that as long as you get it where its supposed to go its as effective as it says it is. You can also use the foam as well.

I don't know, but IUD's and things like that can still result in abortions of the fertiized egg. Does your husband lack such control that you can't practice some wise timing and not be a slave of these devices throughout your childbearing years?
