I have an 02 Silverado 1500 and I lowered it myself. If you are only going to lower the back for an even look go with a 2" drop. I'd use 2" drop shackles. That is the easiest way. If you use 2" drop hangers you have to unbolt the gas tank to take out the hanger. Go with the shackle. Easier job.
I have a 2" front and 4" rear drop. If that's the way you want to go you can get 2" lowered springs for the front or 2" lowered lower control arms. The rear to get 4" you will have to do the hanger and the shackle. And with a 2/4 it's advised to get shocks made for lowered trucks.
For brands...I'd go with either DJM or Belltech.

You can drop about 2" with rear shackles. It you have a sportside bed you may have to lift the back of the bed off the frame a few inches to get the bolts out. Not all shackles work well with a sportside because of a seam that is too close. Grease the new shackles so they don't squeak. If your bed leans (common problem) the drop will make it a little more noticeable.
