I have run across that in some .pdf files (especially in WinXP, but also others). What works for me is to download it first and open it directly, not through IE. That usually opens it up (sometimes with errors, but still usually opens it).

download and install free download manager. Next time you click on the pdf link, right click on it and copy shortcut, then open free download manager and click on
downloads > create new download.
paste the URL in the box. choose the destination to save the pdf andpress ok.
It will save the pdf file on your hard disk instead of opening it in IE browser. You can open it afterwards using adobe reader, and print it.

go into tools (top of internet explorer) then click manage add-ons. look for adobe acrobat reader, or go into control panel, add-remove programs, and look for adobe acrobat reader there.
if you don't find adobe acrobat reader in either of these places, you have to download the program from adobe.com. the reader is free.
if you already have adobe acrobat reader installed on your computer, it may be an older version. if this is the case, uninstall it (add/remove programs) then go to adobe.com and download it again. this will give you the most current version.

I think that PDF file which you trying to download is corrupt. Many times due to slow internet speed it also happens.

Switch to Firefox. It is a much more stable web browser than IE.
