I mean like a free software to download and then use it to get the meaning of an English word like a dictionary??

Well, if you used Firefox for a browser, you could just click tools, add-ons, click extensions, get extensions, and this would take you to a site where you would have a slew of choices for dictionaries. You would click on install at the site and the extension for the dictionary would show up in the search box in the upper right of the browser. Then, to look up the meaning of a word, you would choose the dictionary as the search engine, type the word, and hit enter. The browser would then display the dictionary's results for that word. I use a dictionary that also has a little icon that you click to hear how it is pronounced...

just go to ask.com and click on dictionary ... there is a list on the right side and then type the word you are looking for.... trust me this web site works!! :) just try it
