Sadly... not a joke... only in USA!

God Bless America!

No this is not a joke. This is the real America. To us it sounds like a spoof but to them it is a perfect example of the kind of society they have created and want and an inflexible law enforcement community that is equally to blame. In England if you called the Police to report your own child for opening his Christmas presents early you would probably be cautioned at best and if you persisted be charged with wasting Police time. It is this kind of collective stupidity that has put men and women in harms way in Iraq and in Afghanistan.

It's tantamount to reporting your own failure as a mother. If he is suffering so called, 'attention deficit disorder', whatever the hell that is, it is probably because he is not being shown enough love and affection, or, there is something wrong with his diet. If there ever was any love and trust between mother and child, there sure as hell won't be now. In fact, an act like this, probably strongly indicates that there is, indeed, a lack of love and affection.

Single mothers CAN NOT do an adequate job of bringing boys up on their own. That is one of the reasons we have so much trouble with their offspring.

it's a drastic punishment but didn't the child enter the house without permission? That's burglary of a kind and the great grandparent could have been frightened by the unexpected intrusion. Unfortunately the term 'attention deficit disorder' gets bandied about a lot these days, being another term for 'badly behaved' but everyone is too scared to do anything.

I remember finding my millenium falcon star wars toy in the spare bedroom and my mum catching me. She then went downstairs and pretended to phone Santa Claus and tell him id been naughty! It scared the crap out of me. I never went back in that room again till after xmas! Perhaps calling the police was a bit too much!

No this seriously happened. They are not far from where I live. The mother is a struggling single mother and the child is said to have behavioral issues. This is all coming from news reports. One report even said she planned to hand the child over to the state juvenile penitentiary when he had his court date.

My only criticism of his mother is that she should have started teaching him not to be a thoughtless, selfish brat ten years ago, when it could have been achieved without such draconian measures. By the age of twelve, it's too late, and the little monster is likely to think he can get away with doing this for the rest of his life.

Let's hope that he sees that his actions have consequences... maybe there's hope for him.

I think the cops went along with the Mom's request to please help her teach her son that he can't break into a house. The child does have some disability issues and next time it might not Grandma's house. The kid was released to the Mother's custody and I doubt if the kid got a mug shot, finger printed and a body cavity search.

Only in America. A complete waste of police time and money. I hope they arrested the mother too.

Look on the bright side, at least the kid is in the United States. If this would have happened in Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan, the kid would have his hand cut off.
