a portable dvd player and some of my favorite movies, I had a c-section and was in for a week.... Things i took that helped a couple of button up nightgowns so i didn't have to wear theirs, Pillows really glad i did this because when i left I put one between the seat belt and my fresh scar....make sure you have Cash also most hospital food sucks, and you and hubby can order in at most hospitals. or get food from the hospital.. basically pack like you are going on a trip.. and take a camera or two.... that way if someone special makes the trip to see you and the baby you will have a pic of it..... I would also pack tylenol or some kind of other pain medicine for the ride home... almost all new moms have to stop somewhere and being sore is no fun.

first, I wish I had packed my own pads. The hospital's pads were very bulky and uncomfortable. Try Stayfree Ultra Thin overnite pads. Those helped me a lot. Also, I wish I had taken a twin size thick blanket. My room was always cool, and the hospital's blankets were not enough. I am going to make sure that I pack these when I have this baby. I may also consider the muzzle for my hubby like shannonmangan suggested. He can get on my nerves at times.

Magazines, because you can get bored after being in the hospital for a day or two. My OWN Pads..Make sure they are big enough, but the hospitals are horrible. Also buy yourself a pack of underwear you are willing to throw away while there. Because they may give you little net undies and those nasty pads..Yuck. So definitley a package of underwear and pads.....
A preemie outfit, because the newborn outfits are still too big. I learned that with all of my babies. Except for my 8 1/2 pounder. But its always good to take a preemie outfit just in case your baby is 7 pounds or under. I cant think of anything else right now that I would have taken.

I would have snuck in a bottle of water or two, and I really, really wished I had waited longer to go in. I wish I had waited until I was ready to start pushing, because it was a huge pain having them constantly check to see how far I was dilated, and not let me have anything to eat or drink or anything. And it's a pain having to ask just to be able to walk back and forth in the halls, etc. I'd rather just be at home.
Like a freakin' glass of water would have hurt anything. Thirteen hours of labor without a glass of water - grrrrrrrrr!
Oh yea - a real nightgown would have been great! Pack one that doesn't open in the back. I had to labor on my hands and knees for a while, and the stupid gown just hung down and my big fat butt was pointed straight at the door for everybody to gawk at.
In the end it was all worth it, though. A great big bouncing baby boy - who is 16 years old now!
Sixteen years and I'm still mad about the water . . . . .

a bath robe. and slippers. my own maxi pads. hated the ones at the hospital. a shampoo and conditioner mixed in one bottle. it was hard to stand too long to take a shower it would have been better if i could have done it all at once. A really good book to read and a magazine. I would have liked to have had my own food too but i don't think you can bring that with you. oh and a full size bath towel would have been nice. I have had two c-sections so i had to stay in the hospital four days and nights. Good luck. and have fun. Christmas babies are fun. i have one that was born on the 14 of dec.

I went in to be monitored at 36 weeks. We ended up having our son. I didn't have bags packed at all and the only thing I needed was a camera. Don't forget that because if you have to buy one in the gift shop it costs over 10 bucks for a 27 exposure disposable. Also... I loved having my own brush. Hubby brought it up and I thought I would cry just seeing it. Good luck and Congrats!!!

I wished that I would have packed a premie outfit and premie socks because although my son was 7 pounds the newborn outfit did not fit him.

A phone card...most hospitals dont allow you to use your cell phone, and calling collect to someone to tell about the baby is just not right.
