Ever heard someone ask this when they are introduced to a new invetion or new piece of technology? Or, have you ever said it?

Unfortunately, yes. I've said it because I grew up hearing it. Whenever my grandma learned of something fantastic that's what she said because it amazed her. Then again, this was a woman who grew up before automobiles. She had a horse & buggy to get around. Then enter the industrial revolution, cars, planes, and space flight.

She saw the advent of many things in the technological age & almost every one of them seemed like magic to her. I've seen a couple things that caused the same reaction for me.

Wow, that is like asking for insight into the future. Kind of a moot point because there is no good answer unless you happen to be conversing with an inventor.

I usually hear that phrase when it is some stupid invention. Like putting pads on your body that send electricity into your muscles to contract them as a form of working out. I really debate how that can be good for you in the long run.

My Mother uses that phrase often and as time has gone by I have started to use it as well. It is a clear sign that we have aged and grown, and it also shows that we are still capable of being amazed by the world around us.

Once in a while I've heard it but I haven't said it too often. Another one like this is "best thing since sliced bread".

i usually say that is the next best thing to a slice of bread lol but i have heard it said
