About a week, I think. Usually, you're instructed to use a back-up method in addition to your birth control for 7 days. After a week, it should work on its own, if taken properly.

Depending on the birth control you're taking some of them become effective within a week, or some recommend that you use another form of protection for the first month.

Read the insert that came in the package for your pills it will tell you how long it takes to become effective.

When I was taking Synphasic, it only recommended using another method of contraception for the first seven days of the first package of pills.

If you're still unsure ask your doctor.

My doc said to use protection for the first 7 days, and also whenever you are taking any antibiotics, as the effect of birth control can be lessened by the medication.

you should be fine, two weeks is good enough time.
i was on YASMIN birth control pills and you have to wait one week for it be fully effective it worked for me until i stopped it entirely and had sex two weeks after stopping which resulting in pregnancy im now 13 weeks pregnant and very excited im 26 yrs old by the way and engaged.
so dont worry you should be protected but to be on the safe side always wear condoms Watch out for STD's etc.. GOOD LUCK

My OBGYN told me to use a back-up method for the first month. I think about a week after starting the pill it is working, just not at its highest potiential. But to be on the safe side you should always use a back-up method!

Better safe than sorry!!!!
