94 Century, 3.1L sputters and shakes, sometimes misfires when cold, then runs normally when engine warms up. Have tried PCV valve and oxygen sensor. New plugs too.

The temperature sensor tells the computer the engine is cold and so it adds more fuel for cold starts. Since it's fuel injected, this takes the place of a choke. I'd have a scan ran on the system to see if the Temp Sensor is giving the computer the right information. If it's not registering cold, the engine is starving for fuel.

I dont have a Century with a 3.1L engine, but i have one with a 3.3L engine. Sounds like the same symptoms i experienced before replacing the IAC valve. Before i replaced my IAC valve, the car used to idle a little jumpy after a cold start, and used to hesitate while warming up.

Have you checked your antifreeze and water? On my old Buick (and as a matter of fact is was also a 94 Century!!) I was running low on antifreeze. If that is not it, I suggest warming your car in the morning before you have to leave. Good luck!

I'm not any kind of crazy expert on this, but I think it could be your mass air flow sensor.
