149.6×10^6 km mean distance from Earth - both wikipedia. This of course is 149.6 * 10^9 meters, so since area of a sphere is (4pi)r^2, the sun is equivalent to a light bulb of

(1370 * 4 * 3.14 * (149.6 * 10^9)) watts =

385 *10^24 watts, I think, which is 385 * 10^15 gigawatts, which is 385 quadrillion gigawatts. Mercy.

(A googol is 10^100, which is very much more than the sun's actual output in watts)

The sun's luminosity is:

3.827×10^26 W
or
382.7 trillion trillion Watts
