I got my first tatto at 19 and have had several piercings (all of which have been taken out) Go with a piercing to start out with- they hurt less and can be taken out when you dont like them anymore. I dont regret my tattos, but if your "mid life crisis" wears off soon, you may regret it.

I have both and like you I it all started when I was in my late teens. Before you have anything done consider the cost, pain factor and practability. Tattoo's are decrative and can be nice depending on what you get and where and some places hurt more than others. Some piercings can look very nice and again some hurt a lot lot more than others and some employers dont like certain piercings so bear that in mind. My advice would be to think long and hard before getting anything semi permanent done an spend the money on something else that you like (shoes, handbags, makeup, hairdo etc) unless you are really certain that you want to have it done. I thought about it for 3 years before getting my tounge done and btw it hurts bad for the first 3 days if you are thinking of getting that pierced.

Do not have any piercing done! I have a daughter who did ear,
eyebrow, nose and tongue. Had a few infections which left marks
from infections. A discrete tattoo will harm you less, but if you
decide to go ahead, make certain that all instruments are sterilised,
and don‘t make it very big and full of bright colours. Remember, as
you get older, you may wish to remove the tatoo and this will leave
a mark not very suitable for the elderly. But, I suggest that you buy
yourself something instead, it will be more useful and will have no
after effects.

If you want to do either a tattoo or peircing then go for it! You only live once.
I got my first tat at 16 and now have 8 , I dont regret any of them. Each one makes me think of a different time in my life. I also have a couple peircings.
I hate when people talk about regretting tattoos. Simple you know if your the type to do something and regret it later. If you are that type dont get tattoos, if your not then go for it and dont look back. Just follow the basic rules and you shouldnt regret it, NO NAMES, unless its 'mom' 'dad' or a kids name, dont get anything like a band name or crap like that, you might be embarrased by it in 2 or 10 years, dont get anything too trendy, get something youve always liked and has appealed to you, and only get something YOU want, dont let anyone, tattoo artist included, talk you into something your not 100% sure about. Also one thing to think about also is location. Think ahead 20 years, a tattoo on your chest might look cute until in 20 years when instead of on your cleavage its stretched and near your belly lol. Keep in mind what body parts tend to sag and stretch more, another words if you ahvent had babies yet, dont go for a belly tattoo, wont be pretty with stretch marks through it. Shoulders or pretty much and spot on your back is great and wont really sag until your old enough not to give a crap anyway, ankles are great too, those dont ever sag.
Good luck!

A tattoo is a nice idea, but think for at least a month before you do it, you are stuck with it. My brother had a naked woman on his back and now he's 31 and married he feels like an idiot on the beach with his wife and two daughters with a huge pair of **** on his back!
Whatever you decide to do, I know it's a cliche but put some serious thought into it. It's kind of like choosing an item of clothing that you can NEVER take off! You wouldn't just run out and buy the first thing that you like would you?
It's the same for tattoos. Think of it as a permanant accessory, and choose it as one.
Good luck!
(foots a good place, sexy and can be dislayed or hidden)

ick! I know a lot of people who got a tattoo when we were in college, and wish to god they hadn't. I personally think most piercings are somewhat unattractive. Why not just have some fun dying your hair, trying funky cuts, messing around with some makeup styles? If you REALLY, REALLY want something specific, then go get it! But if you're not sure and planning on going for what most people say you should get, hold off on it. Yeah, tattoos can be chemically removed and piercings go away, but they're expensive and painful. Wait until you know what's actually going to make you incredibly happy before having needles all over your body!

How about a new hair cut?! or a piercing?!
as you may regret it, piercings are easy to remove, your hair will always grow back, but a tattoo takes longet to remove, and is a lot more painful!!
If you do get a tattoo make sure its something you/friend/boyf/family member has designed....dont pull it out of a book it will be alot more personal that way!!
ps. tattoo's dont make a person loook rough if they aren't something tacky and are done in the right place, its the person that makes the tattoo look rough. Look at all the celebs that have a tattoo, they dont look rough!!!

I think tattoos make a girl/woman look rough. They are there for life. I am now 30 and I know that if I had a tattoo at your age I would probably hate it now as your tastes change as you get older and I would rather spend the £2000 it costs to remove it on a top holiday or shopping spree!!

you're very young for a mid life crisis!!
If its a spur of the moment thing, I'd say don't get a tattoo - you're stuck with it for life - it may look good now, but not on a wrinkly 50 year old body!
Why not dye your hair or get a piercing or go travelling - something you're not stuck with forever!
