You do not. You must take a basic skills test and pass a criminal background check. If you have a College degree you get paid more money. Elementary School is fun, Middle School is not to bad but the High School kids can be very trying at times!

You either have to have most of your credits from college (not necessarily graduated) and usually be seeking a degree in education... or do what I did and know the person hiring substitute teachers at the school.

In order to do any teaching you need to be licensed. In order to be licensed you need a college degree. Substitutes are actually fully accredited teachers who just 'fill-in' when a full-time teacher cannot fulfill his/her position. The only position that does not require a degree is a teacher's aide or assistant, but they are not actual teachers, they are there to help the teacher.

JUST babysitting kids? Have you ever been inside a classroom-for the purpose to teach 30 unruly kids and been solely responsible? Good luck with all of that.

No. You have to pass a test that is just general knowledge. The pay isn't very good in many states though. In my parish, it's $60/ day.
